Real Madrid injury, suspension update vs. Barcelona: Will Rodrygo be available?

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga clash with Barcelona.

Real Madrid will be aiming to make it four straight wins in all competitions when they welcome Barcelona to Bernabeu on Saturday evening for the latest instalment of El Clasico.

Carlo Ancelotti's side recorded a 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo in the league last weekend, and they are currently second in the La Liga table, three points behind the leaders Barcelona.

Los Blancos were in Champions League action on Tuesday evening, meanwhile, coming from two goals behind to record a 5-2 victory over Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the Spanish capital.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Barcelona, who have proven themselves to be the standout side in La Liga thus far this season.

Rodrygo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 26 (vs. Barcelona)

Rodrygo has emerged as a major doubt for El Clasico due to the thigh problem that he suffered against Dortmund, with the Brazilian being forced off in the latter stages of the Champions League fixture; he will undergo tests on Wednesday to determine the extent of the damage.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Carvajal for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign due to the severe knee injury that the right-back suffered in the recent clash with Villarreal.

David Alaba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Alaba suffered an ACL injury last December, which has required two operations to fix; the defender has made progress in his recovery, but it is now thought to be highly unlikely that he will return before the end of 2024.

Brahim Diaz

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Abductor
Possible return date: October 26 (vs. Barcelona)

Real Madrid have been without Brahim in recent weeks due to the hip abductor injury that he suffered against Real Sociedad after the September international break, but he is now back in training and has a slight chance of being back in the squad here.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Real Madrid have no players suspended for El Clasico.
