SPFL still looking for sponsor ahead of new season

The SPFL is still waiting for the right sponsorship deal ahead of the new season.

The Scottish Professional Football League has yet to find new sponsorship for any of its three flagship competitions for the coming season, which starts on July 26.

Chief executive Neil Doncaster could not find a company willing to pay for its name to be attached to the new league body or the League Cup when the SPL merged with the SFL last year.

Now, according to The Express, significant progress has been made, with the SPFL ready to sell their top two divisions to different companies.

Ramsdens ended a four-year association with the Challenge Cup last season but with Rangers, Hearts and Hibs taking part this coming season, the competition is looking more attractive to potential sponsors this term.

Celtic are the current holders of the Scottish Premiership, with Ronny Deila appointed the task of retaining the trophy.
