Parma, Catania share goalless draw

Parma share a goalless draw with Catania in their Serie A match at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Catania have earned their third consecutive draw in Serie A after a goalless encounter with Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Pablo Barrientos came close opening the scoring for Catania, but after being played through on goal, his strike was saved by Antonio Mirante.

They came even closer when Gonzalo Bergessio picked the ball up on the edge of the area, before firing an effort against the post.

Parma were struggling to create any real scoring opportunities, and Jonathan Biabiany should have done better when he fired a shot from close range wide.

Barrientos wasted a chance late on when his effort from inside the box missed the target, before Amauri headed over from Mattia Cassani's corner as the game finished level.

The result means that bottom side Catania have moved to within two points of 17th-placed Chievo, while Parma stay eighth in the table.
