Newport County have played out their second 0-0 draw in four days by holding Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium in the first ever meeting between the sides.
Oxford remain top of the League Two table, despite dropping points, because Chesterfield, Fleetwood Town and Rochdale also failed to win this evening.
Oxford bossed the first half and almost broke the deadlock on five minutes, but Dave Kitson fired wide from close range.
Seconds later, James Constable spurned an equally glorious chance when he fired straight at goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley.
Pidgeley got the better of Constable again midway through the half, racing out to pinch the ball of the striker's toes.
Oxford's dominance continued after the break, but Newport came close to taking the lead against the run of play late on.
Conor Washington controlled a long ball and then played a pass wide to Christian Jolley, who cut inside and unleashed a swerving shot that rattled the crossbar.
