A report claims that Middlesbrough are the favourites to sign former Republic of Ireland international Ian Harte.

Middlesbrough have reportedly emerged as the favourites to sign former Republic of Ireland international Ian Harte on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old, who has also been strongly linked with Bournemouth, left Reading at the end of the season following their relegation to the Championship.

According to Sky Sports News, Harte has rejected the contract offer from Bournemouth, with Middlesbrough now ready to make their move.

It is believed that Harte will not drop lower than the Championship next season.
