Five leave Reading

Reading announce that five first-team players and 10 overall are leaving the club this summer.

Relegated Premier League side Reading have confirmed that five players who were a part of this season's first-team squad will leave the club when their contracts expire in the summer.

Noel Hunt, Ian Harte, Nicky Shorey and Jay Tabb all made appearances for the Reading first team this season, but they will not be offered new deals to help the club win promotion from the Championship next year.

Simon Church, who did not make a Reading appearance, is the other player to be released along with four youth team players.

"Every one of the players leaving this summer has played in a part in the club's recent success and on behalf of the club I would like to wish them all well for the future," Sky Sports News quotes director of football Nick Hammond as saying.

"Both on and off the pitch they have shown great professionalism, set excellent examples to our young players and contributed massively to the team. Now both they and the club move to the next stage of their futures and the players will be welcome back at Madejski Stadium any time."

Stuart Taylor, Jonathan Henly, Lawson D'Ath, Nick Arnold, Shane Griffin and Matt Partridge are all in talks over new deals.
