Zlatan Ibrahimovic will recuperate from his knee injury under the care of Manchester United and could yet be offered a short-term deal next season, according to reports.

Manchester United have not closed the door on Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Old Trafford career despite not offering him a new deal, according to reports.

The 35-year-old, whose 2016-17 season was cut short by a serious knee injury, was named as one of the players released by the Red Devils on the Premier League's end-of-season retained list.

According to the Manchester Evening News, however, Ibrahimovic will recuperate under United's care at their Carrington training base, with an estimated recovery date of early 2018.

The report goes on to claim that, should his recovery be successful and Jose Mourinho feels he could use him, he could be offered a short-term deal to see out the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for United last season.
