Benfica boss Rui Vitoria hints at Victor Lindelof exit

Benfica manager Rui Vitoria admits that "anyone" could leave the club in January amid speculation linking defender Victor Lindelof with a move to Manchester United.

Benfica manager Rui Vitoria has admitted that his side could lose players during the January transfer window amid speculation linking defender Victor Lindelof with a move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils are understood to be closing in on a big-money deal for the 22-year-old Sweden international as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his defensive options.

Vitoria refused to confirm whether Lindelof would be leaving the club, but insists that his side will cope if players do depart next month.

"If it happens to a player [that he leaves] we will be prepared and we will find solutions," he is quoted as saying by Mais Futebol.

"It is the same - there is always the prospect of someone leaving and it does not have implications on our work.

"It could be anyone [that leaves]. Many of them have a lot of quality and are attractive in the market, especially at their age. I predict very good careers for them."

Lindelof joined Benfica for just €50,000 (£42,000) in 2012.
