Gerry Armstrong: 'Sergio Ramos isn't joining Manchester United'

Sergio Ramos will not leave Real Madrid for Manchester United, according to Spain-based pundit Gerry Armstrong.

Spain-based pundit Gerry Armstrong has said that he does not believe Manchester United target Sergio Ramos will stay at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond this summer.

Speculation is rife that the Red Devils are keen on signing the 29-year-old, with the Blancos reportedly knocking back a £35m bid recently.

The Spain international is reported to have told the club's hierarchy that he wants to leave, but Armstrong cannot see a departure materialising.

"There has been a little bit of improvement in the relationship between Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid," he told Sky Sports News.

"They've been at loggerheads but in the past 48 hours there has been a conversation between the president Florentino Perez and Sergio Ramos.

"I think he'd like to stay at Real Madrid. There is apparently an offer on the table from Manchester United which hasn't been accepted but I think the player is just looking to get a better deal. He's got two years left on his contract and my gut feeling is that he's going to stay at Real Madrid."

Ramos, whose buyout clause is said to be in the region of £128m, joined Real from Sevilla in 2005.
