Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says that Luke Shaw is the club's only first-team absentee ahead of the clash with Sunderland on December 26.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that Luke Shaw is the club's only first-team absentee as they prepare to enter a busy run of fixtures over the festive period.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling have all had their injury problems in recent weeks, but the trio are available for Man United's Premier League clash at home to Sunderland on December 26.

Mourinho has also spoken about his options in central defence, with Bailly's and Smalling's returns boosting an area that has been filled by in-form pair Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones in recent weeks.

"It's good to have everyone available apart from Luke Shaw, who is not far [away]," Mourinho told reporters. "In the central defender position, we now have all of them. Smalling is back, Bailly is back, Rojo is fine, [Daley] Blind is fine, so it's a position where it's very important to have some stability in the options.

"We were in a difficult position a couple of months ago but now we are safe. We know that Bailly is going to the African Cup [of Nations] in January, but for the next three matches, we have them."

Man United will host Middlesbrough after Monday's clash with Sunderland, before opening 2017 with a trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham United.
