Manchester United's stars are reportedly unhappy with a common contract clause that sees their wages cut by 25% after failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United's players are reportedly unhappy at a contract clause triggered by failure to qualify for the Champions League.

As per club policy at Old Trafford, clauses are inserted into players' contracts that sees their wages cut by 25% if the Red Devils fail to qualify for Europe's premier competition.

According to The Sun, this clause is one of the primary reasons for goalkeeper David de Gea stalling on signing a new contract to stay at Old Trafford.

Last season a dismal run of eight points from their final nine matches cost United Champions League qualification, and with it, 25 percent of a lot of their players' basic salaries.

As a result United find themselves competing in the Europa League this season and will enter at the group stage of the competition alongside Arsenal next month.
