Manchester City hopeful Sergio Aguero will sign new contract

Manchester City are reportedly hopeful that Sergio Aguero will sign a new £210,000-a-week contract before the new season kicks off.

Manchester City are reportedly hoping that Sergio Aguero will put pen to paper and sign a new £210,000-a-week contract before the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

With Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona tracking the Argentine striker, the Daily Mail claims that City are keen to get the deal wrapped up.

Aguero is one of several City players yet to sign new deals, with Vincent Kompany, James Milner, Edin Dzeko and Joe Hart all putting negotiations on hold.

Aguero scored an impressive 28 goals in 34 games last season, despite suffering from a recurring injury.

Manuel Pellegrini's side begin their Premier League campaign away against Newcastle United.
