Claudio Taffarel: 'Alisson Becker very happy at Roma'

Brazil legend Claudio Taffarel claims that Roma stopper Alisson Becker is "very happy" at the club despite reported interest from Premier League side Liverpool.

Brazil legend Claudio Taffarel has claimed that Roma stopper Alisson Becker is "very happy" at the Serie A club despite rumours surrounding the goalkeeper's future at the Stadio Olimpico.

Brazilian keeper Alisson has proven a vital cog in the Roma machine recently, having helped to guide the capital outfit to third place in Serie A last season, while also being part of a side that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Some standout performances from 25-year-old have since led a number of European clubs to monitor the Brazilian's situation in Italy, leading some reports to suggest that Liverpool could move for the stopper this summer in a bid to solve their current keeping crisis at Anfield.

"He is very happy at Roma and the rumours of a transfer are just rumours. I don't know what will happen, but he said he'd be content to remain at Roma," said Brazilian legend and current national goalkeeping coach Taffarel when speaking to Tele Radio Stereo.

"Alisson is only a year older than Ederson, but has grown so much, ever since he was given the starting role against Venezuela. He is a step above Ederson right now, as the Manchester City man can improve with his feet and in terms of experience."

"Alisson could be named among the best goalkeepers in the world, along with Thibaut Courtois, David de Gea and Manuel Neuer."

Alisson has made 37 appearances for Roma since joining from Internacional in 2016.
