Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton says that he wants to provide stability at the club by keeping his best players on the south coast.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton has said that he wants to provide stability at the club by keeping his best players on the south coast.

The Seagulls, having cemented their Premier League status for next season, are reportedly expected to receive offers for the likes of Pascal Gross and Lewis Dunk in the transfer window.

Hughton, however, has insisted that it is important for Brighton to keep hold of their current squad ahead of another campaign in the top flight.

"That's been the priority, certainly for the last two seasons," the manager told The Argus. "We've had offers for some of our better players over that period and on each occasion our chairman and owner resisted them.

"I think that will be the same in the summer, but it is very much about keeping hold of your best players.

"I would like to think that this club is in a healthy position at the moment and what means more to this club at the moment is that we enable ourselves to have a decent Premier League season next season and to get that type of stability."

Brighton travel to Liverpool in their final game of the season and could still achieve a top-half finish in the table, should they claim victory at Anfield and other results go their way.
