Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk insists that there is still room for him to improve in every aspect of his game ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has insisted that he can still improve "in any aspect" of his game.

Van Dijk joined the Reds for a world-record £75m fee in January and helped them to finish in the top four of the Premier League as well as reach the Champions League final.

However, the Dutchman is refusing to let complacency creep into his game and is focused on continuing to improve ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

"Like I said when I arrived, I want to achieve everything possible with this beautiful club. We're going to work our socks off and do everything possible to make it happen this season. We were very close to silverware but obviously not close enough," Van Dijk told the club's official website.

"I can improve in any aspect of the game. At the moment, it's getting back to full fitness, making sure I'm getting better and stronger than I was before. I will work every day and do everything possible and no doubt it will happen.

"If everything goes well, hopefully next weekend I'll get my first minutes of the season. We'll see. I'm just happy to be back and now we can get back to work. We have great games coming up and we're going to work very hard. I'm looking forward to it."

Liverpool will begin the new season at home to West Ham United on August 12.
