Adam Lallana backs Rickie Lambert for Liverpool success

Adam Lallana says that Rickie Lambert can reach his best form at Liverpool if he is given more playing time.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has backed his teammate Rickie Lambert to be a success at the club.

Both players joined the Reds from Southampton in the summer, but Lambert has struggled to secure a regular starting spot and is yet to find the net this season.

Lallana admits that while the striker has not enjoyed the best of starts to his career at Anfield, he believes that it is only a matter of time until he finds his form in front of goal.

"I speak to Rickie a lot and I've had the privilege of playing with him for the last four or five years," he told talkSPORT. "We knew it was never going to be easy moving clubs. We've come to a team that people expect a lot from.

"We can assure you we're working hard all the time and, when Rickie gets his chance, I'm sure he's going to take it. There is a goal or two around the corner for him.

"It's the same with any striker, you want to be on the pitch as much as possible. When you're not, people start to judge you on scoring goals but it's hard when you get 10 minutes here and 15 minutes there."

Liverpool are currently 11th in the Premier League table.
