Christian Benteke: "I believe in myself"

Christian Benteke insists that his self-belief has never wavered after coming off the bench to score a late winner against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has insisted that his self-belief has never wavered despite a difficult run of form this season.

The Belgian has fallen behind Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi in the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp, but came off the bench to score a late winner from the spot in this afternoon's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

Benteke also won the contentious penalty, and he believes that referee Andre Marriner made the right decision in pointing to the spot.

"I think he touched me otherwise I don't go down. The referee knows better than us and he took the right decision. You have to be ready when the manager needs you and I tried to do my best today," he told Sky Sports News.

The Belgian later added to BBC Sport: "I believe in myself and I am going to fight until the end, I have no doubt about it."

Benteke's goal was his first in the Premier League in 2016.
