Report: Inter Milan lead race to sign midfielder Marco Verratti

A report claims that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is wanted by a string of European clubs, with Inter Milan the favourites to land his signature.

Inter Milan have reportedly made the first move to securing the signature of midfielder Marco Verratti, who looks likely to be on his way out of Paris Saint-Germain next year.

The 23-year-old has spent four seasons in the French capital but is starting to grow restless, having been played out of position and regularly criticised by the local press.

Verratti's agent Donati Di Campli suggested this weekend that the Italy international may move on if the critical comments continue to be made, with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Serie A trio Juventus, AC Milan and Inter all said to be monitoring the situation.

According to The Sun, it is the Nerazzurri who lead the race after meeting with Di Campli to discuss terms over a deal worth £105,000 a week, and their cause could be further boosted should former PSG boss Laurent Blanc replace under-fire Frank de Boer at San Siro.

Verratti, who missed Euro 2016 earlier this year due to injury, has played eight Ligue 1 games for PSG this term and featured in all three Champions League group games thus far.
