First-half goals from Mohammed Abdellaoue and Mame Biram Diouf prove enough for 10-man Hannover to beat Wolfsburg 2-1 at home.

Hannover have registered a narrow 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg at home in the Bundesliga.

The home side made the breakthrough in the third minute when Mohammed Abdellaoue was set up by Sofian Chahed to slot home from close range.

Naldo came close to restoring parity for Wolfsburg just moments later when he tried to turn in Marcel Schafer's delivery but failed to hit the target from close range.

Ivan Perisic and Vieirinha tested Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, before the hosts went down to 10 men on 34 minutes as Sebastien Pocognoli was shown a straight red.

However, Hannover almost made it 2-0 four minutes later as Mame Biram Diouf headed Chahed's cross against the post.

Moments later Diouf doubled his side's advantage when he found the target from the right side of the Wolfsburg box.

The visitors gave themselves a good chance of at least taking home a point right after the restart, as Alexander Madlung turned home Christian Trasch's delivery from close range.

Wolfsburg pressed on for the equaliser during the second half, with Bas Dost, Naldo, Vieirinha and Diego all coming close, but they failed to earn a point in the end.
