Leon Osman: 'Future is bright for Everton'

Veteran Everton midfielder Leon Osman thinks that the future is bright for the Blues.

Everton midfielder Leon Osman believes that the future is bright for the club.

The Toffees broke their transfer record to land Romelu Lukaku for £28m from Chelsea on Wednesday, one day after Ross Barkley penned a four-year extension on his contract.

Bosnia international Muhamed Besic was signed earlier this week for around £4m, and veteran midfielder Osman thinks that the club are going places this coming season.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's absolutely great news, Seamus Coleman signed a deal as well and our young and up-and-coming players, who have shown qualities at the top of their game are committing to the club.

"It's great that the club have shown that their ambitions matched their own, and that's a great thing going forward. The players love [Lukaku], the fans love him, hopefully he can play a part [in my testimonial]. It's a big game for me personally, and hopefully the fans can come and enjoy it.

"We've got to repeat what we managed to do last season and hit the ground running. We can hit the heights of last season and once you do that, you can improve on last season. Maybe we can finish a little bit higher, but also we've got to try and aim for silverware as well, and see what we can get."

Everton also added Gareth Barry to their squad on a permanent basis earlier this summer.
