Clarke Carlisle: 'CSKA Moscow should be eliminated from Champions League'

Clarke Carlisle believes that CSKA Moscow should be kicked out of the Champions League following their fans' racist chanting at Manchester City's Yaya Toure.

Former PFA chairman Clarke Carlisle believes that CSKA Moscow should be kicked out of the Champions League following racist chanting from their supporters.

The Russian outfit were issued with a partial stadium ban from UEFA due to their fans targeting monkey chants at Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

The Ivory Coast international complained to the referee about the behaviour during last week's 2-1 victory over CSKA in Russia, which in turn prompted the Premier League outfit to contact UEFA.

"I think that, in a situation like that, it should be tournament expulsion," Carlisle told Perform. "That might sound dramatic but the reason I think that is because if that incident happens here and it's 100 yards in any direction from the football ground and the person, or group of people, committed that offence, they would be arrested and prosecuted.

"So, I don't understand why, just because it's in a football ground, that different rules are at play."

The ban will come into force for CSKA's next European fixture against Bayern Munich on November 27.
