Toulouse midfielder Giannelli Imbula - currently on loan from Stoke City - is handed his first call-up to the Congo DR squad.

Congo DR coach Florent Ibenge has decided to hand a first international call-up to midfielder Giannelli Imbula.

Earlier in his career, Imbula played for France Under-21s, while Belgium - the country of his birth - was an option for the Stoke City midfielder.

However, it appears that Imbula will now represent African nation Congo DR on the international stage after being given an opportunity by Ibenge ahead of a friendly with Tanzania.

Imbula remains Stoke's record signing, but the 25-year-old is currently out of favour at the bet365 Stadium and has spent the campaign on loan at Toulouse.

The former Porto man has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season.
