AC Milan have returned to the top of Serie A with a 1-0 win over Chievo Verona on Tuesday.
It was the away side who started the stronger and they moved 1-0 ahead after just eight minutes when Sulley Muntari struck from outside the box after good work from Robinho.
Chievo twice came close to levelling the match moments later through Michael Bradley and Sergio Pellissier, but Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati denied the pair.
Cyril Thereau was next to come close for the home side just before the 30-minute mark in the match, but he struck wide from close range.
Robinho might have added Milan's second after 37 minutes, but his effort from inside the box was pushed away by Stefano Sorrentino.
Chievo so nearly levelled the match on the stroke of the break, however, when Luca Rigoni struck from inside the area, but his effort just drifted wide.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic so nearly made it 2-0 for Milan on the hour mark, but he fired wide from close range when he might have done better.
Chances remained few and far between as the match approached its latter stages, with Ibrahimovic looking the man most likely to extend Milan's lead.
It remained 1-0, however, with Milan securing a vital win in their race to secure the Serie A title.
