Chievo Verona defeated Calcio Catania 3-2 to move within a point of the Rossazzurri at Marc'Antonio Bentegodi this afternoon.
In the sixth minute, midfielder Michael Bradley fired the hosts in front from inside the penalty area after the ball found him from the flank.
Sergio Pellissier then gave Chievo a two-goal lead from the spot with 20 minutes gone, following Catania defender Nicolas Spolli's dismissal for a foul on the Italian striker inside the box.
However, the visitors were able to pull one back prior to the break when the ball went in off Chievo defender Marco Andreolli for an own goal.
Former AC Milan striker Alberto Paloschi struck back for the hosts within minutes of the restart, beating keeper Juan Pablo Carrizo at his near post from Pellissier's through ball.
Catania substitute Sergio Bernardo Almiron pulled one back for the visitors with five minutes to go, but the hosts were able to hold on to secure all three points.
