Chelsea are monitoring Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas and are willing to meet for the forward's buyout clause of £8.3m, according to reports.

Chelsea are reportedly looking at Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas and are considering an £8.3m bid before the January transfer window closes.

Aspas has enjoyed a breakthrough season in La Liga, scoring eight times in 19 appearances to add to his growing reputation.

The Blues are thought to be impressed by Aspas and want to steal a march on transfer rivals by meeting his release clause this month, according to Marca.

The player's agent is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "Celta are not willing to negotiate over their young star Aspas's price, so any buying club would have to meet his £8.3m release clause."

Celta are desperate to keep their star striker as they fight for survival in Spain's top flight.
