How Chelsea could line up against Leicester City

Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up for their Premier League clash Leicester City on Tuesday evening.

Chelsea will be aiming to keep the pressure on the Premier League's top four when they face off against title-chasing Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Blues managed to end a three-game winless run in the top flight with a 1-0 victory at Fulham on Saturday, with Mason Mount netting the all-important goal in that West London derby.

Frank Lampard's men still have some ground to make up on the sides above them as they sit seventh in the table, and the Stamford Bridge faithful will be hoping that Saturday's win at Fulham can act as a springboard for a much-needed winning run.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Chelsea could line up against Leicester in midweek.

POSS CHE XI vs. LEI 2

Out: N'Golo Kante (hamstring)
Doubtful: Andreas Christensen (knee)

N'Golo Kante made his return to training from a hamstring injury last week and continued to recover through his suspension at the weekend, but the Frenchman has not been passed fit for this encounter.

Andreas Christensen was nowhere to be seen at Fulham but would be unlikely to earn a start in defence either way, although Kurt Zouma is expected to come back in for Antonio Rudiger alongside Thiago Silva.

Reece James was deemed fit enough to make the bench at the weekend after recovering from a knee problem and should reprise his regular role at right-back over the veteran Cesar Azpilicueta for this one.

Billy Gilmour is likely to replace Jorginho in Lampard's engine room, with Mount a nailed-on starter after his winner at Craven Cottage and Mateo Kovacic expected to keep his place ahead of Kai Havertz.

Having Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic both fit again is a huge boost for Lampard, but the Chelsea boss admitted that Callum Hudson-Odoi was unlucky not to have started on Saturday, so he could very well come in for Pulisic with the American working his way back to full fitness.

Timo Werner spurned a golden opportunity to wrap the game up late on against Fulham and may have to make do with a place on the bench again, but it would not be a surprise to see Tammy Abraham recalled to the first XI over Olivier Giroud, who continues to be linked with a move to Serie A.
