Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says that Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard is "way behind" the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has claimed that Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard is "way behind" the likes of Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hazard struggled to make an impression as Chelsea bowed out of the Champions League in the round of 16 courtesy of a 4-1 aggregate defeat to Barcelona.

Messi, on the other hand, scored three times over the two legs to fire his team into the quarter-finals.

Hazard is widely regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League, but Keane has said that the Belgium international has "too many off days when he's just not up to it".

"He can be very, very good but to me there are just too many off days where he's just not up to it. If you're trying to compare him to Messi - he's way behind him," Hazard told ITV Sport.

"Messi and Ronaldo have been doing it year after year. They always seem to be fit. They play 50 or 60 games a season and they produce week in, week out. These other players that we are talking about don't."

Hazard has scored 15 times and registered 11 assists in 41 appearances for Chelsea this season.
