Didier Drogba insists that he didn't take over the team talk responsibilities from Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has denied speculation that he took over the team talk duties from Andre Villas-Boas on Saturday.

Reports had claimed that the striker gave a speech to the rest of the squad during the half-time interval of Chelsea's FA Cup tie with Birmingham City.

However, Drogba has insisted that nothing of the sort took place.

"I want to make things clear," he told a press conference. "The manager made the speech at half-time.

"We're here to help him and after [the speech] we were trying to bring the team up and nothing more. We did what the manager wanted us do. We were trying to apply what he was saying.

"People are making a big thing out nothing."

Villas-Boas also rubbished the reports at the weekend.
