National League roundup: Forest Green Rovers beat Bromley to keep top spot

Forest Green complete a 2-1 home victory over visiting Bromley to ensure that they remain at the top of the table in the National League.

Forest Green Rovers continued their impressive start to the National League season as they beat travelling Bromley 2-1 at New Lawn to remain top of the table this afternoon.

The hosts had first-half goals from Aarran Racine and James Jennings to thank for the victory after Alex Wall had originally equalised for the visitors early in the opening period.

Elsewhere in the upper reaches of the league, Eastleigh moved into second place as they registered an impressive 3-2 home win over Torquay United following goals from Yemi Odubade, Lee Cook and Josh Payne.

Both Woking and Gateshead climbed into the third and fourth positions respectively as they saw off resistance from Welling United and Lincoln City.

Down at the bottom of the table, Kidderminster Harriers continued their poor start to the season, but showed some signs of improvement as they came from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw away at Tranmere Rovers.

Halifax Town produced a standout victory on home soil having come from a goal down to beat visitors Barrow 3-1 at The Shay.

Southport enjoyed a much better result too, as they claimed their first victory of the season with a 3-0 win over Altrincham, while Macclesfield Town also recorded a 2-0 victory against home side Grimsby Town.

Another memorable win was claimed by Aldershot Town, who produced a thrilling comeback to beat hosts Braintree Town 2-1 following second-half goals from Richard Brodie and Charlie Harris.

Down in the South, Dover Athletic made it 12 points from seven games with a 2-1 home victory over Boreham Wood, but fellow promotion hopefuls Chester FC had to settle for a point after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Guiseley.
