Xabi Alonso targets Champions League glory with Bayern Munich

Xabi Alonso believes that Bayern Munich can cope with the pressure of being the favourites to win the Champions League this season.

Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso has said that he is confident the club can win the Champions League this season.

The German champions are among the favourites to lift the trophy in the Olympiastadion next May and will be looking to improve upon last season's semi-final exit.

"Last year Bayern were really close to getting to the final," he told UEFA.com. "In recent years they have had great runs and hopefully this will be another great year.

"But the expectations are to win it; you know you are coming into a club with the highest expectations. It's a great responsibility, a great pressure for us."

Bayern face Manchester City in their next Champions League match on Tuesday evening.
