Curtis Weston strike gives Barnet win

Curtis Weston scores to give Barnet a 1-0 win over Dartford in the Conference Premier, leaving the Bees four points clear at the top of the table.

Barnet have increased their lead at the top of the Conference Premier with a 1-0 win over Dartford at Princes Park this afternoon.

The visitors came close to opening the scoring when Lee Cook threw the ball in for Bondz N'Gala, but the defender's header finished just wide of the post.

Barnet continued to look the more likely in the opening 20 minutes, but Conor Clifford was denied by the crossbar after trying to blast the ball back in from a cleared corner.

The visitors were ahead just inside the half-hour mark, though, as Jordan Chiedozie gave the ball away, leaving Curtis Weston to rifle it into the top corner.

Dartford tried to set up a quick equaliser as Ryan Hayes played the ball forward for Danny Harris, but there was no-one in the box to meet the latter's cross.

Barnet looked to double their advantage early in the second half when Cook leapt up for a header, but Deren Ibrahim managed to hold on to it.

The visitors continued to press in a bid to add a second, but Michael Gash headed wide before Luke Gambin saw his powerful left-footed strike tipped behind after a quick burst forward from Elliott Johnson set him up.

John Akinde came close to putting the win beyond doubt for Barnet in stoppage time, but he could not stretch enough to turn Gambin's long ball forward into the back of the net.

The result leaves Barnet four points clear at the top of the table, while Dartford remain nine points from safety in 23rd with just three games still to play, all but ending their chances of avoiding relegation.
