Arsenal looking to avoid worst run against Aston Villa since 1993

Arsenal will be looking to avoid recording their worst run of results against Aston Villa since 1993 when they face the West Midlands outfit on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal will be looking to avoid their third successive defeat against Aston Villa when the teams meet in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Having both suffered setbacks in midweek, Villa and the Gunners have been left in ninth and 10th position respectively in the standings.

While Arsenal's attention will be on ensuring that they do not lose further ground on the teams above them, Mikel Arteta will also be wary of posting a 28-year record against the West Midlands side.

Villa have prevailed in the last two encounters, emerging victorious by a 1-0 scoreline at Villa Park in July before thrashing the North Londoners 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in November.

Should Arsenal lose out at the weekend, it will represent the first time since 1993 that they have suffered three successive defeats in this fixture.

Between August 1991 and November 1993, Villa put together a six-match unbeaten streak against Arsenal which included five wins.
