Half-Time Report: Nothing to separate Arsenal, Bayern Munich

Manuel Neuer produces a fine save to deny Theo Walcott as Arsenal and Bayern Munich head into half time level at 0-0 in their Champions League Group F clash.

Both sides have had several chances but neither Arsenal nor Bayern Munich have been able to find a breakthrough in the Champions League Group F clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger insisted before the match that his side were capable of beating Bayern and the hosts opened up the German champions with a flowing move early on, but the offside flag denied them after Santi Cazorla had sliced open the defence.

Minutes later the Gunners had a good opportunity to open the scoring as they continued to make early inroads, but after Mesut Ozil was found by Alexis Sanchez, the German's low effort was kept out well by his compatriot Manuel Neuer.

The German champions began to find their way into the match, and they forced Petr Cech into a smart save on his first European start for Arsenal when Thiago exchanged passes with Thomas Muller and drilled a powerful effort towards goal.

Douglas Costa, restored to the Bayern side, had threatened the home defence in the early stages and his footwork beat Hector Bellerin before Cech parried his effort away at the near post as the visitors began to show their quality.

Guardiola's side had won their previous 12 matches in all competitions and they continued to pin the hosts back in their own half, but they were denied again by Cech when Xabi Alonso found Arturo Vidal on the edge of the box.

With an opening goal for the visitors seeming likely, it was Arsenal who had perhaps the best chance of the half after Sanchez should have done better with a half-volley.

Nacho Monreal picked out Theo Walcott in the penalty area and with the England man's header seemingly bound for the net, Neuer reached back to claw out the effort and keep the scoreline goalless.
