Torino earn draw against 10-man AC Milan

Kamil Glik scores a late equaliser as Torino earn a 1-1 draw against AC Milan, who had Mattia De Sciglio's red carded in the first half.

Kamil Glik scored a late equaliser as Torino secured a point by holding 10-man AC Milan to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino.

Despite protest from almost every Torino player, Milan were handed a penalty in the third minute when Jeremy Menez went down after feeling a touch on his arm from Glik.

The disappointing opening to the game sparked a response from Torino, who tested Diego Lopez twice in the space of a couple of minutes when both Alexander Farnerud and Fabio Quagliarella were given too much space in the box.

Torino continued to threaten throughout the first half, and they were inches away from an equaliser when Matteo Darmian lost his marker to head against the post.

Milan survived the onslaught from the hosts, but they were put under more pressure in first-half stoppage time when Mattia De Sciglio was shown a second yellow card for a late tackle on Darmian.

Predictably, the 10 men of Milan were kept on the back foot after the break as Torino struggled to turn long spells of pressure into clear opportunities.

A stubborn defensive performance frustrated the hosts, but some sloppy marking from Milan gifted a chance to Marco Benassi, who was unable to turn a cross home at the back post.

It looked as if Filippo Inzaghi's side were on course for all three points until Glik made up for the penalty incident by earning a point with a powerful header from a Bruno Peres free kick.
