Hungary's Emese Barka: "I wasn't in perfect form"

Hungary's Emese Barka reveals that her focus was key to guiding her to the gold triumph in the final of the women's 58kg freestyle wrestling at the European Games.

Hungary's Emese Barka has admitted that she was not at her best in the final of women's 58kg freestyle wrestling, despite her gold medal triumph at the European Games.

The 25-year-old defeated Tetyana Lavrenchuk of the Ukraine by a 3-1 margin in the gold-medal match at the Heydar Aliyev Arena, and Barka believes that her focus was key to her victory.

She told reporters: "It feels fantastic. This is my first gold medal in a big competition. I have needed some time to work but now I am ready to start winning gold after gold.

"I wasn't in perfect form and made a lot of technical mistakes, but I think that I compensated for it by being very focused mentally.

"During the fight I did not think gold or silver, I stayed focused and only thought of wrestling."

Hungary have won seven gold medals at the Games.
