Emma Lonsdale: 'Olympics worth the sacrifices'

Great Britain skier Emma Lonsdale admits that having the chance to compete in the Olympics for the first time in her career is worth all the sacrifices.

Great Britain skier Emma Lonsdale has admitted that all the sacrifices that she has made over the last few years have been worthwhile to compete at the Winter Olympics.

The 29-year-old will compete in the half-pipe for the first time in her career, as the event was added to the Olympics for the first time in Sochi.

She told the Westmoreland Gazette: "Appearing here in Sochi has been the goal since half-pipe was announced as an Olympic event. It brings everything together and made all the hard work and 18-hour shifts worthwhile.

"I have no regrets. We all make sacrifices to get to where we want to get to and you don' get there without making those sacrifices. You have to put in the hard work and then when you get to where you want to you realise what all the hard work was for."

Lonsdale will get her Olympic campaign underway later today.
