John Baines to replace Craig Pickering in two-man bobsleigh event

Team GB confirm that John Baines will replace Craig Pickering in the two-man bobsleigh event to partner Lamin Deen ahead of this weekend's competition in Sochi.

Team GB have announced that John Baines will replace Craig Pickering in the two-man bobsleigh to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Pickering was forced to withdraw from the Games due to a back injury, and now Baines - who was part of the four-man team - will now partner Lamin Deen in the two-man event.

Baines told the Team GB official website: "Going to the Games has always been my dream and now I'm finally here I can say hard work and determination pays off.

"Training and racing with Craig over the past year has been a honour, and when I race this weekend I will do him proud."

The two-man bobsleigh event takes place later this week.
