Thomas Morgenstern "looking forward" to Sochi after recovering from injury

Austrian ski jumper Thomas Morgenstern admits that he is in good shape after recovering from an injury suffered last month, and is now looking forward to the Sochi Games.

Ski jumper Thomas Morgenstern has revealed that he is in good shape and looking forward to getting his Olympic Games campaign underway.

The Austrian suffered a bad injury in January after landing on his back during a training session, having to spend a week undergoing rehabilitation.

Morgenstern is now back and raring to go, however, and looking to add to his three Olympic gold medals and surprise his fellow competitors in the process.

"It's step-by-step," the 27-year-old told reporters. "We went into every [practice] round and I was very satisfied. I am in really good shape.

"My hope here is to get through the Games, to get back home safely and hopefully I can surprise in the competition as well.

"I'm really looking forward to it and I at least know there is no pressure at the moment because of my fall. I have a gold medal at home - it's great, it's nice to know there's nothing to lose."

Morgenstern won two gold medals in Turin in 2006 and a team large hill gold in Vancouver in 2010.
