Lleyton Hewitt says that he does not know if he will return to Wimbledon next year.

Lleyton Hewitt has hinted that this year's Wimbledon championships could be his last.

The former champion, who was a wildcard entry at SW19, bowed out in straight sets to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga this afternoon.

Hewitt displayed battling qualities in losing to Novak Djokovic in the fourth round of the Australian Open, but was required to have surgery on his toe in February.

Since his return, Hewitt has exited three tournaments at the first round stage.

When the Australian was asked whether he would be back at Wimbledon next year, he replied: "I don't know. At the moment I've been focusing on getting back this year, doing everything right with my foot and rehab to get back to here.

"So I'm proud of myself of what I've been able to do, all the hard work it's taken to get here. I'd like to be back here, absolutely, but we'll have to wait and see."

Hewitt, 31, also won the 2001 US Open.
