Former British number one Tim Henman has hailed Andy Murray following his victory in the Wimbledon final.

Murray defeated world number one Novak Djokovic in straight sets on Sunday to become the first British man in 77 years to get his hands on the trophy.

"It's absolutely fantastic," Henman told BBC Sport. "It's an unbelievable achievement for him and one we're all incredibly proud of.

"He always in his heart of hearts believed he could win the tournament. He had the huge disappointment of losing the final 12 months ago but knew he could do it. This is certainly one of many more Grand Slam titles for Andy Murray."

Henman reached the semi-finals of the tournament four times during his career before retiring in 2007.
