Japan's Kei Nishikori has reached the last eight of the men's Olympic singles after edging Spaniard David Ferrer in a late finish at Wimbledon this evening.
The first set went against the players' respective rankings as 15th seed Nishikori breezed through, winning it 6-0.
Fourth seed Ferrer regained his composure in the second, moving ahead by a break and serving out to love to send the match into a decider.
The third and final set remained close, with neither man surrendering his serve before bad light saw the match briefly halted as it was moved from outside to under the roof of Centre Court at 5-4 Nishikori.
It was something of an anti-climax once play was resumed as the Japanese broke instantly to take the final set 6-4.
Nishikori will battle for a place in the last four with Argentinian eighth seed Juan Martin del Potro.
