Li Na will face Maria Sharapova in the Sony Ericsson Open last eight after overcoming Sabine Lisicki in three sets.
The French Open champion had to battle back from a set down to beat the number 12 seed 3-6 6-4 6-2.
Na, who is the first ever Chinese-born Grand Slam winner, dropped the first set to an impressive Lisicki, who hit strongly from the baseline.
However the 30-year-old responded well to claim a crucial break on her way to winning the second 6-4.
Experience then showed as Na broke the German's serve twice to secure victory and avenge her defeat at Wimbledon last year.
The world number eight will face Sharapova in the quarter finals after the Russian beat Ekaterina Makarova in straight sets.
