Li Na brushes aside Carla Suarez-Navarro in Miami Masters third round

World number two Li Na drops just two games on her way to reaching the quarter-finals of the Miami Masters with an emphatic win over Carla Suarez-Navarro in Florida.

Second seed Li Na has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Miami Masters courtesy of a 6-0 6-2 thrashing of Carla Suarez-Navarro in Florida this evening.

In the first meeting between the pair since 2009, Australian Open champion Li took just 61 minutes to continue her seamless progression in the tournament.

The Chinese took her second break point opportunity to steal the first game of the Suarez-Navarro serve, and then did the same twice more on her way to winning the opener without dropping a game.

Suarez-Navarro ensured that she would not suffer a double bagel defeat by getting on the scoreboard early in the second, but that proved to only be a brief positive in what was a convincing defeat.

With the scores at 1-1, Li quickly took the set away from her Spanish opponent by winning three consecutive games, and although Suarez-Navarro stopped this run, she could not stop the inevitable.

Li would go on to record a second break of the set and the fifth of a short encounter to wrap up victory.
