British number two Johanna Konta's run at the Aegon International was brought to an end at the quarter-final stage this afternoon by Belinda Bencic, who recorded a 2-6 6-0 6-3 victory in Eastbourne.
Sydney-born Konta, who had defeated top-20 players Garbine Muguruza and Ekaterina Makarova earlier in the competition, appeared to be on course for a place in the semi-finals when she broke her Swedish opponent twice to take the opening set in 36 minutes.
However, 18-year-old Bencic rallied to win the next set courtesy of a bagel, before dropping three games in the decider to seal her spot in the last four.
The world number 98 will now take on either Andrea Petkovic or Caroline Wozniacki for a place in the final.
