James McGee suffers defeat in Ilkley Challenger semi-finals

Ireland's James McGee misses out on a place in the final of the Ilkley Challenger after losing to Denis Kudla.

James McGee has suffered a straight-sets defeat to Denis Kudla in the Ilkley Challenger semi-finals.

The Irish number one has enjoyed a fine couple of weeks, but he wasn't able to cap off his preparation for the Wimbledon qualifying rounds with an appearance in Saturday's final.

Kudla broke serve twice to take the opening set but McGee improved during the second to force a tie-break.

Kudla held his nerve to run out a 6-2 7-6 winner, but McGee will move up to a career-high ranking inside the top 150 next week.
