Jerzy Janowicz blazes into Paris Masters final

Jerzy Janowicz books his place in the Paris Masters with a straight-sets win over Gilles Simon.

Jerzy Janowicz has become the first qualifier to reach the final of a Masters tournament in almost a decade with a straight-sets win over Gilles Simon.

The Pole played some calm and composed tennis to see off his opponent 7-4 7-5 in just one hour and 28 minutes.

Simon had virtually no success against the world number 69's serve, never holding a break point and only once taking him to deuce.

Janowicz broke the Frenchman in the fifth game of the first set with consecutive forehand winners and went on to secure it 7-4.

The second set was evenly match and looked to be heading for a tie-break until the Pole launched an unstoppable off-forehand winner across court for 6-5 before serving out the match.

Janowicz will take on either David Ferrer or French wildcard Michael Llodra in the final.
