Ivan Lendl reveals how changes in personal life contributed to Andy Murray split

Ivan Lendl reveals that changes in his personal life caused him to call time on his two-year coaching stint with Andy Murray.

Ivan Lendl has revealed that he was unable to give Andy Murray the time that he needed as a coach due to changes in his personal life.

The pair ended their partnership back in March after two successful years working together.

Lendl helped guide the Scotsman to his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2012 before coaching him to the Wimbledon crown at the All England Club one year later.

While in New York ahead of the US Open, which gets underway today, Lendl told the media that he wanted to spend more time with his 16-year-old daughter after she returned home from horse riding school.

According to Reuters, the eight-time Grand Slam champion added: "The planes are a pain in the arse. The places, the hotels - England was good, Australia was good, here it was alright. It was the smaller trips I didn't like.

"All these things combined. And you know with Andy, after his surgery and after winning Wimbledon and all that, I felt that if anything he needed more time rather than less time."

Murray, who also won an Olympic gold medal under Lendl's guidance, is now being coached by Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo.
