Former British number one Tim Henman has said that Andy Murray has made the right decision in withdrawing from this year's French Open.

The US Open champion sustained a back injury while playing in the Rome Masters last week, and will skip the Roland Garros event in a bid to be fit for Wimbledon next month.

"It's a mature, professional decision and it could potentially help him on the grass," Sky Sports News quotes Henman as saying.

"You don't want to be missing events like these, the French Open is a huge event, and Andy will be bitterly disappointed, but if he can come back fresh and recharged, it may help him.

"At Wimbledon, I could very easily make a case for all of the top four players in the world, particularly if Andy can arrive fully fit."

Murray has only made the last four once in six appearances at the French Open.
