Roger Federer has refused to confirm whether he will be fit for Switzerland's Davis Cup final against France this weekend.
The world number two is currently struggling with the back injury that forced him out of Sunday's final of the ATP World Tour Finals in London.
However, the 33-year-old has suggested that he will be able to recover in time to face France in Lille.
"My back is better than it was, but not good enough for practice yet. But I'm hopeful," the 17-time Grand Slam champion is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
The build-up to the Davis Cup final has been dominated by claims that Federer and compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka fell out in the aftermath of their semi-final at the ATP World Tour Finals, but the pair took to Twitter on Tuesday to show that they are still on good terms.
