Greg Rusedski tips Andy Murray to win the Australian Open and believes that his new-found confidence will see the Scot past Novak Djokovic.

Former US Open finalist Greg Rusedski believes that Andy Murray has found peace with his game and is a major threat to Novak Djokovic's position as world number one.

Murray is chasing a second Grand Slam title at the Australian Open this month and Rusedksi has picked the Scot to triumph in Melbourne thanks to a new ruthless streak.

He told the Tennis Space: "You can already see that he's more relaxed. He's much more open and giving now, willing to talk about how he used a sports psychologist.

"He never would have spoken about that before. The belief is there now. All of a sudden, he feels good about himself. I've picked him to win this event, even though Djokovic is many people's favourite.

"That's because of that mental fortitude and also because of that relationship with Djokovic, with the two of them being born just a week apart, and the history of them growing up together. That's going to play a huge part if both guys get to the final."

Murray is in second-round action at Melbourne Park later today against Portuguese qualifier Joao Sousa.
